Project Description
The Fujifilm Cardia Rensha Byu N 16 camera was designed for precision, a tool built to analyse a golfer’s swing by recording motion frame by frame. Repurposed for the street, it becomes an instrument of unpredictability.
The Fuji Cardia Rensha 16-shot camera was designed for precision, a tool built to analyse a golfer’s swing by recording motion frame by frame. Repurposed for the street, it becomes an instrument of unpredictability.
Each press of the shutter yields a sequence exposures: moments that unfold as fragments of people and place. Sometimes they arrive in a burst whilst at other times they are made one by one, patient and observational.
These sequences become a visual diary of the drift, a psychogeographic wander through people, architecture, and urban environments. Random alignments form unplanned relationships. The gaps between frames become as important as the frames themselves.
What began as a machine for analysing motion is repurposed to capture fragments of everyday life. Each ‘Street Sequence’ stands as a small experiment in chance, rhythm, and the act of looking.
