Project Description
During winter in Hokkaido, snow slows movement, fog limits distance, and silence alters how the land is perceived
These photographs were made while walking through rural Hokkaido in winter. The work is not about travel or destination, but about paying attention to what is present. Snow slows movement, fog limits distance, and silence alters how the land is perceived. Roads appear as practical routes rather than promises and trees stand where they are, shaped by weather and time. The images describe a place as it was encountered, through movement, duration, and the simple act of being there.
